Context
Waymo was exploring how agentic AI workflows could support hiring managers and improve the employee experience after they joined the organization.
Lucas served as the primary technical and AI strategy contributor within the consulting team, helping translate an early HR opportunity into a practical agentic workflow and implementation path.
Wicked Problem
Hiring does not end when a candidate accepts an offer. For complex organizations, the critical work continues after the hire: helping managers support new employees, making the right information available at the right time, and creating systems that improve retention without adding more manual coordination burden.
The challenge was sensitive because HR workflows involve people, trust, privacy, and organizational nuance. A useful AI agent in this context could not simply answer questions. It needed to fit into the way managers work, support better follow-through, and be evaluated carefully enough to avoid creating risk or noise.
Solution
Traverse in Space helped shape the strategy for an agentic HR workflow designed to support hiring managers and improve retention after hire.
Lucas contributed AI strategy, agent architecture, workflow mapping, evaluation design, and implementation roadmapping. The work focused on clarifying where an AI agent could provide meaningful support, how it should interact with existing HR and manager workflows, and what would need to be true for the system to be evaluated and implemented responsibly.
The engagement stayed intentionally practical: define the workflow, map the agent’s role, identify evaluation needs, and create a path from concept toward implementation.
Outcome / Impact
The work provided strategic and technical direction for an HR AI agent workflow focused on manager support and new-hire retention.
Public details are intentionally limited because of the sensitivity of the work.
