Employee work through Amazon Brand Innovation Lab, spanning EU Hardlines and Softlines clients.
Context
Amazon’s Brand Innovation Lab worked with major brands to create custom commerce experiences across Amazon’s advertising and retail ecosystem. The work spanned EU Hardlines, including consumer electronics, and Softlines, including sports, fashion, and luxury brands.
Lucas worked as a Senior Design Technologist in a 16-person team, supporting brands including Google, HP, Levi’s, G-Star, Swarovski, and Tommy Hilfiger.
Wicked Problem
Major brands want bespoke digital experiences, but marketplace environments reward repeatable systems.
Each client needed something that felt specific to its launch, product, audience, and brand world. At the same time, the work had to operate within Amazon’s ecosystem, respect platform constraints, support commerce outcomes, and move quickly enough to meet campaign timelines.
The challenge was to build horizontal experience patterns that could scale across Amazon’s IP and technical environment while still feeling custom enough for world-renowned brands. The work had to balance brand expression, conversion, technical feasibility, and speed.
Solution
Lucas designed and developed interactive eCommerce campaigns across product launches, shoppable experiences, brand stores, seasonal microsites, livestream and media-commerce experiences, and personalization campaigns.
His role combined UX/UI design, creative technology, frontend engineering, client discovery, prototyping workshops, and technical leadership. He led software development engineers through implementation, translated client goals into viable experiences, and helped brands move from workshop concepts into launchable campaign systems.
Highlights included Google Pixel launch experiences, HP printer and laptop experiences, Swarovski workshop and digital experience development, Tommy Hilfiger campaign work, Levi’s inclusivity campaign work, and G-Star workshop-led experience development.
For Levi’s, the work explored how online apparel shopping could better account for uncertainty around sizing and body shape, using a more inclusive model and size-finding experience to help shoppers view Levi’s attire on bodies closer to their own.
