A systems-and-philosophy lecture on social creation with AI: treating artificial intelligence as an agentic “other” that can support ideation, provoke new directions, and function as a kind of serendipity machine.

Context

Delivered at The Collective AI: Hacker House Bali the day before the product strategy workshop, this talk focused on the ideation layer of AI-native product work: how concepts emerge when human imagination is paired with machine-generated variation, feedback, and recombination.

Core Idea

The “agentic other” frames AI less as a passive tool and more as a strange collaborator: a system that can generate alternatives, reflect assumptions, introduce productive friction, and help creators move through larger possibility spaces.

Themes

  • AI as collaborator, counterpart, and creative sparring partner.

  • Social creation with machine intelligence: co-ideation, reflection, and iterative concept development.

  • Technical affordances of AI, including iteration, interoperability, generativity, and evolutionary search.

  • Authorship, agency, human augmentation, and the design methods that emerge when intelligence becomes part of the creative environment.

Public Framing

The lecture connected philosophical questions about agency and authorship with practical design questions: how founders, designers, and creative technologists can use AI to produce better concepts, richer experiments, and more surprising strategic directions.
